A chance to recap

Journal Entry: Sun May 18, 2008, 1:57 PM
Its been a while since I have been in Western Canada, let alone able to see the Pacific coast in all its glory. However, I find myself here once more for a short course and given the opportunity to retake some shots that I felt may have been missed.

So this may explain the sudden relaunch of deviations being released, especially more extensive panoramic shots of the mountains and water ways.

I always found it frustrating in a sense to get the scope of the shots that I wanted. Fortunately it now seems that I am better equipped, software wise to make that happen.

Home port

Back to home port after three weeks at sea. Due to the lack of 'compact' ability for my camera I was not easily able to get shots at sea. So no shots of sunsets and sunrises off the coast of Virginia and such.

However I did get several shots of Boston while I was there in port. Hopefully this will give me some new material to work with, even though I still have some older stuff I could pump through.

I will however say, that its nice to be able to take summer/spring pictures again!

The final pages of a new chapter

Well Victoria was a blast, the island itself is a tourist hot post for a reason. However as with all good/bad things they must eventually come to an end and in my case in three weeks I'll be flying back home to Halifax to continue with my training.

Of course, for two weeks of that I'll be out to sea as part of an exercise. So hopefully my 3 1Gb memory cards will be enough to last me that period of time. New ports every night, plenty of islands to see in between my shifts and such. Look forward to it actually!

So deviations and responses will slow to a crawl until a bit after the end of the month. So don't feel disappointed if you don't get too many comments from me or if I am a bit slow. It'll be perfectly normal! I will just have to sort through all the new favs I'll make once I get back!

So far so good!

Victoria has had some great weather since I arrived. So night shots of cruise ships, water shots overall and some other gems to choose from. Victoria itself is rather representative of the province itself from staunch business class to pot smoking hippies.

Streakers [link] were probably the least expected aspect to be found. Odd that!

There are also giant trees on the Island, so I will probably have to bribe someone in the area to take me one of these days!

Four timezones in under six months

Well training requires me to change coasts for the summer. So while the Maritimes are starting to finally get green and photo ops are just around the corner... I find myself soon to be heading on a plane to visit British-Columbia near Victoria.

Of course, visit is a relative term. I'll take my camera even if I have no real clue how effective it will be for me considering that I will be on training. Oh well tis life, hopefully some nice shots of sunsets over the ocean!
